Custom dimensions w/ URL param extractions - can I hide these params from reports?

Let’s say I have a custom dimension that’s extracted from the URL. (ex. the dimension is called ref and I have links like http://web.site/my-page/?ref=menu)

However, I also don’t want that URL parameter showing up in my Pageviews reports. (ex. if someone clicks on /my-page/?ref=menu, I want it to show up in the reports only as /my-page/.)

I know that I can exclude certain URL parameters from showing up in Page URL reports, like described here. This sounds great. But I am wondering if this exclusion would affect the URL extraction for that ref custom dimension? Does anyone know the order of operations here?

Probleme bei der Installation / leere Seite

Hallo, ich habe die aktuelle Version auf meinen Server geladen, eine Subdomain erstellt.
Wenn ich jetzt die URL aufrufe, wird bei mir eine leere weiße Seite angezeigt, mehr nicht.
Was mach ich falsch?

Weird visits originating from Baidu

I get these weird visits from Baidu once in a while. Common patterns:

  • All originate from China and enter the site from Baidu.
  • All end up on a 404 page trying to visit some gibberish text.
  • Come in the pair of two, 5-20 seconds apart, from different IP ranges.
  • All reportedly using UC Browser on top of Huawei P20.

(I have many more screenshots of the same behaviour, but as a new user to the forum I can only post one image on the post.)

I have no idea what to make of them, and would really like to know why or how I’m getting them. Did you ever experience something similar?

What is "Actions after entering here" metric?

Hey folks - I recently performed an export (to CSV) on the “Behavior” --> “Pages” Matomo report. I was hoping there would be metrics included around actions (e.g. “avg. actions per pageview” for each page) but the only column related to actions is “Actions after entering here”.

Could someone please explain what this means? Is it:

  • Actions on the page, excluding the action when visiting the page?
  • All actions created after viewing this page?
  • Something else?

Context:
I found this article that defines what actions are but couldn’t find any resources related to this “Actions after entering here” metric.

Moin,

vielleicht kann jemand helfen. Meine IT hat Matomo aufgesetzt, ich habe über den Tag Manager den Tracking Code auf er Webseite eingebunden. Im Besucher-Log sehe ich auch einkommende Daten. Diese werden aber in den Berichten nicht aggregiert.

Liegt das am fehlenden Cron Job (https://matomo.org/docs/setup-auto-archiving/)? Die Widgets werden doch sonst auch live berechnet, oder?

Archiving & or SQL Error

Hi Team, we realized that we have the following issue with our Mamoto Installation:
The Diagnostic page showed us: Last Successful Archiving Completion error Archiving last ran successfully on Thursday, August 6, 2020 21:04:48 which is 8 days 12:43:13 ago
and on the Mamooto Reporting page we have the following Error Message, not sure if they not sure if they are connected:
Visits over time: WP DB Error: [1173] This table type requires a primary key SQL: CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE wp_matomo_logtmpsegment467c0582d8274a41c81513a2e3da73ce (idvisit BIGINT(10) UNSIGNED NOT NULL)

It is useful for the investigation that I copy and paste the whole system report in this thread?
We have no idea where to start with the trouble-shooting.

Identify Same Visitor Across Domain Without 3rd Party Cookies

Our requirement is to track a particular user journey who visits different domains. Referring https://matomo.org/faq/how-to/faq_118/

"In some cases, it might be interesting to enable third party cookies, so that a same visitor will get the same ID across all your domains and subdomains. Matomo (Piwik) doesn’t report cross sites visits at this stage, so you will benefit from using third party cookies only if you run manual queries against Matomo database. To enable 3rd party cookies, edit your config/config.ini.php and add the following lines:

[Tracker]
use_third_party_id_cookie = 1
"

The issue with this approach is that, we have found by default Firefox and MS Edge disables third party cookie which means we do not have this id (i.e. _pk_uid) hence the visitorid is not same. This is an issue for us. Is there an alternative way to identify the same visitorid across domains without using 3rd party cookies?

Report Api date range across month

I’m using the api to get goals data by segments. But doing so I found that when the month changes within a week, there is no data.
I want to get the data for that week beginning with 2020-03-30 up to 2020-04-05:
According to the reference I can use: date=2020-03-30,2020-04-05&period=range
Parameters are:
?date=2020-03-30,2020-04-05&period=range&expanded=1&filter_limit=-1&format=HTML&format_metrics=1&idGoal=&idSite=2&method=Goals.get&module=API&segment=referrerType%3D%3Dsocial&showAllGoalSpecificMetrics=1&token_auth=xxxx

But I get “0”

Changing to Period=Day I do get a daily result:
?date=2020-03-30,2020-04-05&period=day&expanded=1&filter_limit=-1&format=HTML&format_metrics=1&idGoal=&idSite=2&method=Goals.get&module=API&segment=referrerType%3D%3Dsocial&showAllGoalSpecificMetrics=1&token_auth=xxxx

changing to week as the period again gets me nothing:
?date=2020-03-30&period=week&expanded=1&filter_limit=-1&format=HTML&format_metrics=1&idGoal=&idSite=2&method=Goals.get&module=API&segment=referrerType%3D%3Dsocial&showAllGoalSpecificMetrics=1&token_auth=xxxx

This is not what anyone could expect using the API
Because if you do the same with the next week, everything works fine. It only appears in weeks where the month changes within that week.

Report emails not sending

I’m using the Matomo for Wordpress plugin and am having issues receiving emailed reports. I’ve set up a report to run weekly (which isn’t coming through) and when I click ‘Send report now’ the system gives me a confirmation message, but the email never arrives. Has anyone else run into a similar issue? I’m not sure where to begin with the troubleshooting, as there is no error message.

I have checked my spam/junk mail and tried sending the reports to email accounts on different domains. I am able to view the report in the plugin. The emails just aren’t being sent.

error when creating import job

Hello, thank you for matomo and this plugin.
Trying to import GA to matomo on my wordpress site.
When creating an import job, I get the error in dutch, which translates to:
date format should be yyyy-mm-dd, or today or yesterday or any keyword supported by the strtotime function

This is when leaving the two date fields empty, but also when populating these two fields with something in the format yyyy-mm-dd

Can a kind person help me with this one?

How 'Time Spent on Page' is calculated

Hello. I’m particularly interested in how the total time spent on pages is calculated. For instance, if a person were just to remain logged in on the site Matomo is tracking and not commit any actions on that page, would “Time Spent on Page” for that user continue to be calculated? Is there a way after a certain set of minutes their session is declared inactive as to not be counted in the averages of time on pages? Help!

Automatic update for shared dashboards

Hello.

As the main administrator, I share a dashboard with many other users.
If I make changes on the dashboard, they are not automatically pushed to everyone. The changes are not visible to users who have already shared the dashboard before the changes. I can share the dashboard with these users again, but then they also have 2 times the dashboard to choose from, once in the old and once in the new design. This leads to confusion.

How can I distribute changes to the dashboard to all users automatically?

Retrieve Visitor ID for GDPR Requests

Hi,

how can users of my website find out their visitor IDs in order to make GDPR requests. I know how to use matomo GDPR tool to fulfill GDPR requests but I do not know how users can find out their visitor ids that I need to look for.

Does this make sense? Can anybody tell me how this process would look like?

Import script von log-analytics findet nichts (all-inkl installation)

Hallo, ich versuche mich gerade an den log-analytics. (Bin eindeutig nur “Anwärter”, habe mich gerade von Google Analytics verabschiedet.)

Matomo habe ich über die subdomain matomo.meinedomain1.de installiert
(php 7.4, matomo 3.14.0, python 2.7, hoster: all-inkl).
Die log files bei all-inkl webspace liegen im root verzeichnis des nutzers in /logs/ in der Form access_log_domain_tld_jahr-monat-tag.gz.

Ich habe jetzt das Problem, dass die Importfunktion nicht klappt. Weder das Lesen der how-to’s, noch das Stöbern hier im Forum haben mich weiter gebracht.

./console core:archive --force-all-websites --force-all-periods=315576000 --force-date-last-n=1000 --url=‘http://matomo.meinedomain1.de’
oder
python matomo/misc/log-analytics/import_logs.py --url=matomo.meinedomain1.de --recorders=4 --enable-http-errors --enable-http-redirects --enable-static --enable-bots access.log

laufen sauber durch, finden aber nichts. Alles “0” bei allen 5 sites.

Fragen:
Findet matomo den Ort der logfiles so überhaupt?
Kann matomo die namen, die die logfiles bei all-inkl bekommen, überhaupt auflösen?
Oder was habe ich noch nicht verstanden?

GetAttributionInfo() returns 0 when it is organic and direct traffic

Hi there,

I’ve been using Matomo Javascript API to find out my visitor details whether they are coming in with organic, direct, referral or paid.

So far, paid works well and everything. However when it is organic and direct, the response I get from matomo is just empty.

I would like to know are there any ways that I can trigger the matomo API to send me the source of the visitor like how it should be in the visits logs?

Last completed day in the "all sites" view

I think I have set a day in the “all sites” view, now it always shows me that day, or one day, instead of showing me yesterday or today visits.

What should I do to go back to seeing the visits of the last completed day in the “all sites” view?

WooCommerce Matomo Analytics - Woo-Matomo is not correctly configured

WP-Admin backend warning message: Woo-Matomo is not correctly configured. To fix this error either deactivate tracking or change the Matomo Instance configuration.

It look like since latest Matomo Update WooCommerce Matomo Analytics isn’t working if Matomo and WooCommerce share same server, but operate on different cPanels/IPs (this is the initial best guess).

I activated “Enable Logging” at the WP-Plugin to get more details, but there are no logs available.

What are next steps in investigating the problem?

Please advise. Thank you!
